Final Breath
By Stephany Songvilay
TW: This poem does include thoughts of suicide and self-harm.
Falling through the endless cycle
Constantly going toward a downward spiral
The days weigh down with clouded worry
The tears stained faces down in a hurry
Losing light
Losing reality
Losing self
Take in,
Final breath.
Hands reach down
Before we drown
But take in,
Final breath.
The sea whistles a gruesome groan
And grabs upon fleeting bones
Fields of glory and dreams
Faded and torn upon the seams
Whispers in the dead of crowded loneliness
Sounds of sweet sorrow between our own weakness
Hands of help in vain
As the Final Breath wanes.
Constantly going toward a downward spiral
The days weigh down with clouded worry
The tears stained faces down in a hurry
Losing light
Losing reality
Losing self
Take in,
Final breath.
Hands reach down
Before we drown
But take in,
Final breath.
The sea whistles a gruesome groan
And grabs upon fleeting bones
Fields of glory and dreams
Faded and torn upon the seams
Whispers in the dead of crowded loneliness
Sounds of sweet sorrow between our own weakness
Hands of help in vain
As the Final Breath wanes.
